How do I place an order with FIRGELLI Australia?

Where does FIRGELLI Australia ship from?
Australian orders are dispatched from FIRGELLI's Australian warehouse. The current FAQ states that orders normally dispatch within two business days using Australia Post.
How will I receive my tracking number?
The tracking number is emailed after the order has been processed for dispatch. Check the email address used for the order and its junk folder before contacting support.
How can I tell whether an actuator option is in stock?
Available force, stroke, and voltage choices appear in the product selector. If a specific option cannot be selected or added to the cart, treat it as unavailable and contact support if you need an expected restock date.
Can I change the shipping service after ordering?

Start with the required force at the actuator mounting point, stroke, available retracted and extended space, desired speed, duty cycle, supply voltage, environmental exposure, and whether feedback is needed. How much actuator force do I need?
Calculate force at the actuator, not simply the weight of the door or load. Pivot position, mounting angle, friction, acceleration, wind, and the worst point in the travel can increase required force substantially. Use the Linear Actuator Calculator and leave a suitable engineering margin.
What does actuator stroke length mean?
Stroke is the distance travelled by the actuator rod or carriage between its retracted and extended limits. It is not necessarily the same as the distance moved by a hinged door or linkage.
How do I calculate an actuator's extended length?
For a conventional rod actuator, extended mounting length is normally the retracted mounting length plus the stroke. Always use the dimension table or drawing for the exact model because end fittings and housings vary.
Does a higher-force linear actuator move more slowly?
Often, yes. Within the same actuator family, higher-force gearing normally trades speed for mechanical advantage. Compare the force and speed table for the exact variant rather than assuming every model follows the same ratio.
What is actuator duty cycle?
Duty cycle limits motor heating. A 25% duty cycle, for example, means the actuator should run for no more than one quarter of the complete run-and-rest period under the stated conditions. Load, ambient temperature, voltage, and ventilation can reduce usable runtime.
Should I choose a 12V or 24V linear actuator?
Match the actuator voltage to the controller and power supply. A 24V system can reduce current for comparable power and may reduce voltage drop on long cable runs, but never apply 24V to a variant rated only for 12V.
How do I size a power supply for a linear actuator?
Use the actuator's loaded or maximum current, not its no-load current. Add startup margin, include every actuator that can run simultaneously, and keep the supply within the controller's voltage and current limits.
What IP rating do I need for an outdoor actuator?
Choose the IP rating from the actual exposure. Rain, dust, washdown, temporary immersion, connectors, and cable entry are different conditions. An IP-rated actuator is not automatically suitable for submersion or pressure washing.
Can a linear actuator replace a gas strut?
Sometimes. Match the required force throughout the motion, stroke, mounting lengths, available space, speed, duty cycle, voltage, and bracket geometry. A powered actuator also needs wiring and a safe method of supporting the load if power or a component fails.

Side load is force acting across the rod or carriage instead of along its intended axis. It can cause binding, seal wear, bent rods, damaged bearings, and shortened screw life even when the axial load is within the force rating.
How should I mount a linear actuator?
Keep the actuator aligned with the load and allow its clevis ends to pivot through the full motion. Avoid side load and rigid misalignment. Use compatible mounting brackets and verify clearance at both travel limits before applying power.
Can a linear actuator support a suspended load by itself?
Do not rely on an actuator as the only safety support for a suspended or overhead load. Use a mechanical stop, lock, brake, or independently rated secondary support appropriate to the hazard.
Can I cut or extend a linear actuator cable?
Usually, but preserve wire gauge, polarity, shielding where fitted, and every feedback conductor. Longer cables increase voltage drop and electrical noise. Document the colour change and use sealed connectors where moisture is present.

What is position feedback on a linear actuator?
Feedback produces a signal related to actuator movement or position. A compatible controller can use that signal for synchronization, position display, learned limits, or closed-loop control.
What is the difference between Hall, optical, and potentiometer feedback?
Hall and optical sensors normally produce pulses as the actuator moves, so the controller counts movement from a calibrated reference. A potentiometer provides an analogue voltage related to absolute position. Controllers are not automatically compatible with all three types.
Do I need feedback to run two actuators together?
Two ordinary actuators can be powered together, but manufacturing tolerances and unequal loads allow them to drift. Use matched feedback actuators and a synchronizing controller when skew could bind the mechanism or damage the load.

Troubleshooting
9 answersWhy does my actuator not move?
Check supply voltage at the actuator while a move is commanded, fuse continuity, controller output polarity, loose terminals, emergency stops, and whether an internal or external limit is open. Then test the actuator briefly with a correctly fused direct supply if the product instructions allow it.
Why does my actuator move in only one direction?
A two-wire actuator needs opposite polarity for the other direction. A failed switch contact, relay, controller output, wiring connection, or external-limit diode can allow one direction while blocking the other.
Why does my actuator move slowly under load?
Likely causes include too much load, poor linkage geometry, binding, low supply voltage, an undersized power supply, long or undersized wiring, or a controller current limit. Measure voltage at the actuator while it is moving.
Why does the actuator controller reset when movement starts?
Motor startup current can pull an undersized supply below the controller's minimum voltage. Check supply capacity, cable voltage drop, loose connections, shared loads, and the total current of all actuators starting together.
Why is my linear actuator getting hot?
Heating can result from excessive duty cycle, overload, binding, low voltage with high current, rapid reversing, high ambient temperature, or poor cooling. Stop the system and correct the cause rather than using temperature alone as the control method.
Why do two linear actuators drift out of alignment?
Small motor-speed differences and unequal load make open-loop actuators accumulate position error. Mechanical guides do not remove the electrical mismatch. Use matched feedback actuators and a compatible synchronizing controller where alignment matters.
Why does my actuator stop before reaching full stroke?

Why does a linear actuator back-drive when power is removed?

Can I stall a linear actuator at the end of travel?
